Dylann Roof Sentenced to Death
The verdict is in and Dylann Roof has been sentenced to death by a jury of his peers in Charleston, South Carolina. The jury was comprised of nine whites and three blacks and came to a unanimous decision within three hours. The twenty-two year old was on trial for the cruel and despicable act of murdering nine innocent African-Americans in a church in Charleston, S.C. Roof, a self-proclaimed white supremacist, infiltrated and befriended the members of the church with his endgame being the brutal massacre of the innocent and unsuspected churchgoers.
Roof was cold and unapologetic during the entire trial, and he did not fight against the death penalty verdict but rather he accepted it as if he knew that was going to be the end result of his evildoing. Although we all have our thoughts on the death penalty, myself included, this is one of those moments where the overall thought of this is justification. Roof had, and still has, no remorse for what he did, and truly feels accomplished. Truly a man with no regrets for his heinous actions.
