Sprint and Tidal Link Up
Sprint acquires 33 percent of TidalHIFI streaming service. The new deal looks to provide Sprint users with exclusive content from Tidal. What that exclusive content will be is yet to be announced. Going from past Tidal exclusives we can gather it will be access to special events, and early access to content on the Tidal app.
Sprint has 45 million customers, and so this makes for a great move for Tidal which has been questioned about the legitimacy of a number of subscribers it has. The goal of this deal on both ends is to solidify their hold in the streaming game, this deal should yield good results. Sprint now has the ability to package in a solid streaming service that is on par with Apple Music and Spotify. If this works out Sprint will be able to claim Tidal as their own streaming service and package it in their phone plans. Tidal will be their clear cut answer when people are on the fence about getting a new phone that isn't an iPhone. Sprint will be able to package Tidal into their phone plans which will ideally drive up sales for all their phones not called iPhone. This deal looks to be a winning situation both sides, and we will be keeping our eyes peeled on what's to come next.
