Since opening its doors in 1980, New York Common Pantry has grown from a small neighborhood pantry serving only 30 families into New York City’s most innovative emergency food provider; feeding over 400,000 individuals. NYCP celebrates a milestone this year, with its 10th annual Fill The Bag Benefit. An event designed to help raise funds to expand the program, as well as continue to provide meals throughout the city and state. 12by6 visited this unique program at the event, getting a first hands look at the power message/work that is created here; reducing hunger throughout New York City while promoting dignity and self-sufficiency.
