Misguided Youth in Today's America
Depression. Anger. Emotional Imbalance. Communication Issues. Jealousy. Rage. Hate. Need I say more? What better compilation of feelings to describe today's youth. If we mix that in with a numb and desensitized America, this has created the perfect environment to house a cauldron of issues that's about ready to spill over.
This particular melting pot is one we've been stirring for quite some time. We've medicated these emotional problems through technology and drugs over the course of the last decade (legal and illegal). This disconnection we have fostered in america is partially from social media, and globally it has withered our relationships within our friends, families and communities. There is an overwhelming need to be connected to everything in the digital world but at the same time disconnected from reality. This is worse than a drug addiction. This is a symbiotic lifestyle change.
We crave to be in the "know" (Information Age) without fully understanding life on a deeper level. The youth have no real goals and who's to blame when the school systems aren't developing our children to be better individual for the world when they could have better consumers. This is America today. We don't have core values or respect for each other as Human Beings, and that's the scariest part about today's society.
We've watched a 15 year old boy named Lesandro, murdered on every social media outlet over the course of the summer, we've witnessed a young aspiring musician named XXXtentacion murdered (no) thanks to a twitter video, over hometown jealousy, but neither gained more national news than Michael Flynn who got sentenced 3 years and is still out free.
2018 has shown us many things but the glaring fact is we do not value each other and America does not value us. We are not taught to thrive in America, we are taught to spend, consume, and discard, Consumerism. This ideology was as meant for growing capital for the country. Let's not use that same ideology on people, love and life. So how can we expect President Trump to put value in us or our communities if this is what we are worth?
It has to start with us, we can blame the system. We can blame the government but we have to curate the change we seek and that Generational divide will become a Generational Bridge. But as it stands now, we all have a long way to go.
Help each other. Show compassion. Lead by Positive example. I'll close out by saying Cold shoulder create cold hearts, cold hearts make a cold world... There's no warmth in that.
