J. Rosa vs. Vegas Week 2
Football is back and oh, have we missed you. This past Sunday we saw what makes the NFL the most popular television program on television. There was nonstop action with many games going down to the wire. Fantasy football was in full effect and most importantly there was a lot of gambling to be had. If you read my column last week you would have seen a 2-1 record, not too bad for the first week. We saw Miami cover against Seattle, New England not only covered but won outright in the desert and our lone lost was Carolina against Denver. So here we go let’s win some money this week again.
San Francisco 49ers at Carolina Panthers (-14)
Carolina will be looking to bounce back after a rough opening game lost where Cam took a beating against the Broncos. San Fran is traveling from west to east to play in North Carolina which I don’t like but they are coming off a huge win on Monday night so their morale should be high. Carolina wins this game but a 14-point cushion is just too big to pass up. Chip Kelly’s team will score some points, give me the 49ers.
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots (-6.5)
Once again, Miami is getting points this week and I am taking it. The Dolphins gave Seattle everything they could handle last week and I expect the same this Sunday against the Pats. The Jimmy Garoppolo experience has started and hit without missing a beat. The young Patriots Quarterback looked poised and decisive in a hostile environment in Arizona last Sunday night. He also showed good mobility which we haven’t seen from Tom in years. Jimmy will play well and the Pats should get Gronk back this week as well but I’ll take the Fins plus 6.5.
Green Bay Packers (-2.5) at Minnesota Vikings
This week’s Sunday Night Football matchup is a battle of AFC north rivals. The Vikings played well last week versus Tennessee without their leader Teddy “two gloves” Bridgewater who is out for the remainder of the year. The Vike defense is legit and head coach Mike Zimmer will have his team ready to play, but give me Aaron Rodgers and that Green Bay offense. Jordy Nelson is back and it’s apparent that he is Rodgers’ safety net. With an array of weapons and what should be a decent running game, I see the Packers scoring a lot of points this season. I am not a fan of giving points but with Green Bay only having to win by a field goal, I’ll take that. Discount Double Check!
Those are my Week 2 picks, hold me to it.
