Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor 1
Nobody is stronger than the man in mirror, after all he should be your only competition. At least that's what you are likely to hear if you ask Floyd Mayweather or Conor McGregor. Two men who battled bruisers and brawlers alike to reign supreme in both Boxing and Mix Martial Arts, respectively. Heavy is the head that wears the crown and the throne can only seat one. There just can't be two number #1 fighters, the top spot has to be well deserved so now we have two of the worlds best fighters clawing at each other to get the recognition only the greatest deserves. Conor McGregor is a mixed martial artist (MMA) Champion losing only 3 bouts in his entire career and snatching 21 wins whereas Floyd Mayweather has proven to be a world champion striking down 49 opponents and taking 0 losses over the course of his career. We both can agree the latter has the better record, notoriety, legendary status and recognition as well as star power. But the former is no slouch either, he has instantly become a fan favorite and rightfully so, single-handedly dominating the UFC time and time again.
So which fighter is the better pound for pound fighter? its hard to say actually, Both fighters compete in different leagues, with different rules against different opponents. Its hard to compare apples and oranges unless you're just going to categorizing them as fruits. This is where the problem lies though, we set up the UFC and WBA to be separate so why are we trying to undo what we started? To then separate them again after the fight, shortly after. Does this mean this fight has more meaning than what its lead on to be. I mean think about it if Conor wins, what would happen to the state of boxing? Any loser from UFC can just come over to the WBA league and attempt to dominate. Not that McGregor is a loser but you get it right? Think about Nate Diaz, he won and lost to Conor and his highest fighting proficiency falls under the boxing category despite being a UFC fighter.
My personal opinion is Mayweather will win this fight but he will take some lumps because at the age of 40, he probably can't dodge as good.. but he is not going to lose (I hope). Conor at most will win 3 to 4 rounds max. I mean walking into boxing promising your going to knock out one of the boxing greats, you either have to be crazy and/or super efficient at what you do. I believe he is both, so I think McGregor will take round 4, 7, 10 and 12. Conor promised a 4th round knock out but Mayweather has never even been knockout in his entire career. I don't believe this changes on August 26th. But anything can happen after all, that's what we are paying to see right? If you have to bet on the odds, bet on the first 3, 200 on Mayweather and 100 on Conor for R4 then enjoy the rest of the fight.
Fight Line Bet: Conor +490 vs Floyd -680
If you have to bet, stick with prop bets and place your money on betting the rounds. The highest rounds are between 2800 and 6000 (McGregor), while Mayweather round bets sit between: 1000 and 2300 per round.
