Football Fantasy Mock 2.0

Football Fantasy Mock 2.0

Well ladies and gentlemen, Week 1 of the NFL preseason is behind us. In reality, preseason is meant for rookies and unsigned free agents to try and make the 53-man roster, but we were still fortunate enough to see glimpses of greatness from a few players.  Well for one, we can see that there is truly a fierce competition in Tennessee for that starting position at RB, as both Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry went off for 93 and 74 yards respectively, and both scored a touchdown. Out in Jacksonville, Allen Robinson seems to be picking up where he left off, racking in 80 yards on 3 receptions. And what about the LA Rams, I don’t know about you guys but I enjoy me some Hardknocks. I can’t wait to see how the Rams coach, Jeff Fisher reacts to that punt return they allowed as soon as they got on the field. Nonetheless, I went ahead and did my second installment of my mock draft to see where everyone falls after Week 1 of the preseason. This time I’m giving you guys an extra round! These are my results in a 12 man PPR mock draft.

ROUND 1

  1. WR1 Antonio Brown PIT
  2. WR2 Julio Jones ATL
  3. WR3 O’dell Beckham Jr NYG
  4. RB1 Todd Gurly LA
  5. RB2 Adrian Peterson MIN
  6. RB3 Ezekiel Elliott DAL
  7. WR4 DeAndre Hopkins HOU
  8. RB4 David Johnson ARZ
  9. WR5 AJ Green CIN
  10. RB5 Devonta Freeman ATL
  11. WR6 Allen Robinson JAX
  12. RB6 Lamar Miller HOU

With the first pick in this draft, I’ve decided to roll with Lamar Miller. As the 6th Running back coming off the board I feel like he’s a steal at the end of the round with his explosiveness, pass catching ability, and most importantly, the workload he should be receiving. Just a couple of seasons ago as a Texan, Arian Foster managed 260 attempts from the backfield, a huge jump from Millers 194 in the 2015 season. Last year Miller finished with 872 yards on the ground, with 397 in the air on 47 receptions and a total of 10 touchdowns. Now that he’s in an offense that won’t underutilize him, we can enjoy a true breakout season for this young stud.

Potential steals: Adrian Peterson at 5

ROUND 2

  1. RB7 Le’veon Bell PIT
  2. WR7 Brandon Marshall NYJ
  3. WR8 Dez Bryant DAL
  4. TE1 Rob Gronkowski NE
  5. WR9 Mike Evans TB
  6. RB8 Doug Martin TB
  7. WR10 Jordy Nelson GB
  8. RB9 Mark Ingram NO
  9. RB10 Thomas Rawls SEA
  10. WR11 Sammy Watkins BUF
  11. WR12 Alshon Jeffrey CHI
  12. RB11 LeSean McCoy BUF

It seems like there are two things we can count on from Bell. First off is that he will miss part of the season for one reason or another. And two, is that he’s going to ball out either way. Every year he has a chance to be the #1 RB in the league and fantasy player, because of his homerun style of play and his excellent pass catching ability. It doesn’t hurt to be on one of the higher scoring offense, I mean come on, last season they basically abandoned the PAT and just scored two point conversions almost at will! In 3 out of 6 games last year, he put up at least 111 yards! And if you’re still not convinced that this guys a beast, there were only 3 games that he DIDN’T reach at least 100 scrimmage yards! Once Bell serves his suspension, I anticipate him having another amazing season. He should be worth the 4 week wait.

Potential steals: Dez Bryant at 15; Rob Gronkowski at 16

ROUND 3

  1. QB1 Cam Newton CAR
  2. WR13 Keenan Allen SD
  3. TE2 Jordan Reed WSH
  4. WR14 Brandin Cooks NO
  5. WR15 Amari Cooper OAK
  6. RB12 Eddie Lacy GB
  7. RB13 Jamaal Charles KC
  8. RB14 C.J. Anderson DEN
  9. WR16 T.Y. Hilton IND
  10. WR17 Demaryius Thomas DEN
  11. WR18 Jarvis Landry MIA
  12. WR19 Kelvin Benjamin CAR

What can I say about Kelvin Benjamin? After his rookie season, I’m sold! He’s coming back from a season ending injury from last preseason, but with a QB like Cam Newton, he will reach great heights! In 2014 he posted a 73/1008/9 stat line and I just see his numbers going up. I’m a big fan of go-to receivers and I can definitely see Cam hooking KB up with a few TDs (if he isn’t running in for them himself.) I see KB having a huge year.

Potential Steals: Eddie Lacy at 30, Demaryius Thomas at 34

ROUND 4

  1. WR20 Julian Edelman NE
  2. RB15 Matt Forte NYJ
  3. RB16 Carlos Hyde SF
  4. WR21 Randall Cobb RB
  5. WR22 Jeremy Maclin KC
  6. RB17 Jonathan Stewart CAR
  7. WR23 Doug Baldwin SEA
  8. TE3 Greg Olsen CAR
  9. WR24 Eric Decker NYJ
  10. RB18 Latavius Murray OAK
  11. RB19 Dion Lewis NE
  12. WR25 Emmanuel Sanders DEN

With my 4th round pick in the draft, I decided to take a chance on Julian Edelman. As a potential WR2 on a team, he receives a high volume of targets, second to only Rob Gronkowski on the New England roster. He is a consistent reliable source, game in and game out. Also, he always seems to be available in this point of the draft. This is a guy who can give you double digit points each week without having to score a td. The way I see it is, more targets, more opportunity. Doesn’t matter if its short or long plays, this guy is going to eat! (well, maybe not against my JETS, but that’s beside the point.) Julian Edelman is good in my fantasy book!

Potential steals: Doug Baldwin at 43, Eric Decker at 45, Dion Lewis at 47

Round 5

  1. RB20 Demarco Murray TEN
  2. RB21 Jeremy Hill CIN
  3. RB22 Deangelo Williams PIT
  4. WR26 Michael Floyd ARI
  5. QB2 Aaron Rodgers GB
  6. WR27 Golden Tate DET
  7. QB3 Russell Wilson SEA
  8. WR28 Larry Fitzgerald ARI
  9. QB4 Andrew Luck IND
  10. WR29 Donte Moncrief IND
  11. TE4 Delanie Walker TEN
  12. RB23 Arian Foster MIA

With my last pick, I rolled the dice on Arian Foster. I’ll be the first to admit that this man is definitely injury prone, to say the least. As a flex play and 3rd RB on this potential roster, I’m ready to take that risk. He's a high upside player starting fresh on a new team. This veteran RB does it all, and has always had a chip on his shoulder. Even if he doesn’t play the whole season, whatever he does should be serviceable. With Bell as my RB2, I just need someone to hold down the fort for a few weeks before Bell rightfully gets the key to the team. In my opinion, Miami should be able to keep his legs fresh with the depth at RB that they have. I think he may be a safer option than people may think.

Potential steals: Demarco Murray at 49
